Hello everyone. Recently I appeared for the Sitecore XM Cloud Certification Exam and got certified. So I want to share some useful information with you if you are planning to be a Sitecore XM Cloud Certified developer. Whether you’re new to Sitecore or looking to advance your skills, I am here to provide you with some valuable tips and a study guide to help you prepare effectively.

Understand the Exam Structure:

1. Exam Format:

  • The exam consists of 50 questions that also contain a few multichoice questions, administered through Kryterion Webassessor.
  • These questions are carefully crafted to evaluate your proficiency in developing Sitecore XM Cloud solutions.

2. Content Coverage:

  • The exam covers a wide range of competencies essential for Sitecore XM Cloud developers, including:
    • XM Cloud Architecture and Developer Workflow (12%)
    • Deployment of XM Cloud Projects (16%)
    • Renderings and Layout (14%)
    • Sitecore Content Serialization (14%)
    • Sitecore APIs & Webhooks (10%)
    • XM Cloud Pages (10%)
    • Security for Developers (10%)
    • Data Modeling (14%)
  • Each competency is weighted differently, reflecting its importance in the overall assessment.

3. Exam Duration and Proctoring:

  • You’ll have a total of 100 minutes to complete the exam.
  • The exam session will be proctored to ensure fairness and integrity.

4. Preparation Tips:

  • Review the exam competencies and their respective percentages to prioritize your study efforts accordingly.
  • Utilize official Sitecore documentation, tutorials, and hands-on practice to reinforce your understanding of key concepts and competencies.
  • Take advantage of sample questions and practice exams to familiarize yourself with the exam format and assess your readiness.
  • Plan your study schedule effectively to cover all exam objectives before the exam date.

When I started learning, I preferred the Sitecore Learning Portal. I found a few courses that I found very helpful for you. The course material is very easy to understand and has a great set of questions that help you to revise the course and also understand it very easily. Here are their details.

XM Cloud for JSS Headless Developers: This course will give you an introduction to Experience manager, developing with headless, Content Serialization, Sitecore Structure, and a lot more.

XM Cloud Developer Certification Exam: Once you are done with the development approach, this course will guide you through all the details to register for the exam, and all the resources available for each competency. And finally, some set of example questions to know your scale.

5. Important Notes:

Here, I would like to share a few topics, that you should know before appearing for the exam.

  • Learn about the administrator role and organization user/admin. Security editor, access viewer, manage role, etc
  • Assign security rights to role and user.
  • Sitecore Content Serialization. Read about sitecore.json and module.json files.
  • Connecting issues between your local and cloud instance.
  • Multiple scenario questions on how you will set up the sites on your Sitecore instance
  • How to remove site, site collection, site collection folder.
  • Deployment for XM cloud, deployment logs, check deployment failure, user role to deploy site.
  • Connect Sitecore pages to your local XM cloud instance.
  • What are the ways to create an XM Cloud environment?
  • Configure new device on XM Cloud.
  • XM Cloud vs Headless SXA Components. Headless variants.
  • Placeholder settings, allowed components.
  • Adding components to the component builder.
  • Create a new component by cloning.
  • GraphQL and simple GrahpQL queries and their output.
  • Setting up template structure, use of base template and how to set fields.
  • Knowledge of experience edge, cache, admin api.
  • Use of tokens for example $name.
  • Setting up complex fields in Sitecore.
  • Adding languages in headless.
